It’s quite hard to buy art supplies in Graaff-Reinet, so there are a few options for you, depending on how much you want to invest in art supplies up front.

Please choose which applies to you.

If you would like to start with artist grade acrylics

If you don’t have painting supplies and would like to start learning in acrylic paint:

Megastore in Church Street, Graaff-Reinet have a range of acrylic paint called MOTARRO that is an economical way to begin. You will need the following colours:

• [ ] White
• [ ] Lemon Yellow
• [ ] Yellow
• [ ] Ochre
• [ ] Brown
• [ ] Purple
• [ ] Ultramarine (blue)
• [ ] A red of your choice (there are two or three)

At the time of making this list (November 7, 2024) they are R30 a tube.

Other things that you will need that are available at Megastore are:

• [ ] Paint brushes - there are a few sets available, go for small to medium sized flat and filbert brushes. Have a very small round or dagger brush is also useful for small detail.
• [ ] A palette knife (a smallish one for mixing paint)
